GESSO assembles individually arranged alabaster sections into a circular body with understated metal detailing between them. Because each section is cut from a different part of the stone, the grain, opacity and tone shift visibly as your eye travels around the fitting - it is a light made of pieces, and it does not pretend otherwise.
The layered construction continues beneath the main body rather than stopping at a flat base, so there is something to look at from directly below. That is worth more than it sounds: a ceiling light is seen from underneath almost all the time, and most designs treat the underside as an afterthought and finish it in plain white acrylic.
Metal detailing is kept deliberately quiet so the stone carries the design rather than competing with hardware. Three sizes cover a bedroom through to a larger reception room, and the circular form sits comfortably in both contemporary and traditional settings without needing the rest of the room to match it. Hardwired fitting: installation by a qualified electrician is required, with ceiling fixings rated for the assembled stone weight.
