CHALK pairs a broad circular alabaster body with an ornate brass ceiling mount, and the two halves are deliberately mismatched in temperament. The stone is plain and modern; the brasswork above it is detailed and traditional. Three angled supports frame the fixture from above and hold it clear of the ceiling plate, so the mount reads as a structure rather than a cover plate hiding a junction box. The underside is layered rather than flat, which adds depth when you look up at it - the view that matters most for a ceiling light in a room with normal ceiling height.
Lit, the alabaster reveals natural variation across its surface and the brass picks up warmth from the light passing over it, so the metal glows rather than sitting dark against the ceiling.
