CAIRN builds its silhouette from opposing alabaster forms stacked along a central vertical stem, each section turned against the one below it. Rounded metal nodes separate the stones and give the fixture a measured rhythm, so the whole reads as a deliberate assembly rather than a shade hung on a cord.
The alternating orientation is what makes it interesting from the side. Light escapes differently where a curve faces outward than where it faces in, so the pendant presents a changing profile as you walk past it - closer to a sculpture that happens to be lit than to a lamp with a decorative shade. It is a fitting that rewards being seen in motion.
It works best hung where it can be seen at full height and from more than one side: a stairwell, an entrance hall, a double-height space, or over the end of a long counter.
