Solid cedar with an arched entrance
Reads as furniture, not a crate
A door of their own to go behind
Pickup currently not available
Description
For the small dog or the cat who wants a door to go behind. HUTCH is solid cedar with an arched entrance, built to sit in the corner of a living room and read as furniture rather than as a crate - which is what determines whether it actually gets used or ends up hidden in a spare room.
Cedar was the right choice. It is naturally aromatic, it resists damp, and it ages into a better colour rather than looking tired after a year in a sunny room. Unlike painted board it can be wiped down repeatedly without the finish lifting at the edges, and there is no coating for a chewing animal to take off and swallow.
The arched entrance gives an animal an enclosed den with a clear way out, which is what makes a den feel safe rather than trapping. Assembly is required. Site it away from radiators and direct sun, add bedding suited to the season, keep the interior dry, and check the timber periodically for chew damage or splinters.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is it made from?
Solid cedar. It is naturally resistant, warm to the touch and holds a pleasant scent, which is what makes it suitable for a living room rather than a shed.
What size pet does it suit?
Small dogs and cats. Check the internal dimensions and the arch height on this page against your pet standing and lying down.
Will my cat actually use it?
Cats take to enclosed spaces with a defined entrance far more readily than to open beds. The arch gives them a threshold, which is exactly the appeal.
Is it easy to clean?
The interior is open enough to reach through the arch and cedar wipes down. Add a washable cushion and the whole thing stays fresh with very little effort.
Does it come assembled?
It assembles from prepared cedar panels with the fixings supplied. The joinery is simple, so it goes together in a single sitting.
