QUARRY is a narrow alabaster cylinder on a black wall mount, with a fluted brass-toned detail where the two meet. The fluting is small but it earns its place: it gives the eye something crafted to land on at the junction, which is exactly where a plain sconce usually looks unfinished and cheap.
The stone in this piece carries notably dark veining, and it shows most clearly when the light is on and passing through. Rather than diffusing to an even white, the shade holds visible pattern across its face, which makes it a fitting for people who want the material to be obvious rather than subtle - the opposite choice from a plain opal glass tube on the same wall.
Its narrow vertical profile takes very little wall, so it works in the places a wider sconce cannot go: beside a bed where a nightstand is tight, alongside a mirror, next to a console, or repeated along a hallway or staircase at even intervals.
