COLUMN is a mains LED bollard for the parts of a garden that need to be walked safely after dark: a path to a front door, the edge of a drive, the turn of a border where a step catches people out. The profile is deliberately slim so a run of them reads as a rhythm along the route rather than a line of obstacles to walk around.
Light is directed downward and outward at low level, which is the right approach for a path. It puts illumination where feet actually go, marks the edges clearly, and avoids the glare and light spill that comes from lighting a garden from above.
