FACET sets a cube of alabaster on a crossed black metal base, and the geometry is the whole argument. Flat faces show the stone's veining as continuous planes rather than curving away from view, so the material is legible from across a room in a way a globe never quite manages however good the stone underneath happens to be.
The crossed base lifts the shade clear of the surface, which lets light escape underneath as well as through the stone and keeps the lamp from sitting heavily on a console. Warm diffused output comes through all four faces evenly, so there is no bright side and dark side. Compact enough for a nightstand, distinctive enough that it does not need a companion piece to justify itself.
