HOOP holds elongated alabaster sections inside a continuous black metal loop. The frame runs unbroken around the fitting, so the eye follows a single closed line and the stone sits within it as a lit inner surface rather than as a shade with a bracket attached to the back of it.
Softly illuminated, the alabaster reveals subtle tonal variation along its length while the black frame stays dark against it. That contrast is what gives the fitting definition on a pale wall, where an all-stone sconce can lose its edges and blur into the plaster behind it until it is switched on. Here the outline holds day and night.
The narrow vertical profile takes little wall width, so it works in tight positions - beside a bed with a small nightstand, next to a doorway, along a corridor, or up the wall of a staircase where it is seen at an angle rather than face on.
