An iron frame carries the bottles horizontally at eye level, so the collection becomes part of the room's decoration rather than something hidden in a cupboard at ankle height where nobody sees it.
Horizontal storage is not just a visual choice - it keeps corks in contact with the wine, which is what stops them drying out and letting air into the bottle over months. Mounted high, the bottles also sit away from floor-level temperature swings and from being knocked by feet, bags and vacuum cleaners going past.
Iron construction keeps the frame slim while carrying real weight, so the bottles read as floating rather than sitting in heavy joinery. The iron frame mounts through fixing points on its back plate. Anchored into a stud or with suitable wall plugs it carries a full run of bottles without flex.
How many bottles does it hold?
The frame carries bottles in a horizontal row sized for standard 750ml shapes. Mount units side by side and the run extends as far as the wall allows.
Why store wine on its side?
It keeps the cork in contact with the wine so it stays swollen and sealed. A dry cork lets air into the bottle, which is what spoils wine in storage.
What is the frame made from?
Iron in a dark finish, which is why it holds its shape under load and reads as a fixture rather than a shelf. It wipes clean with a cloth.
