THRESHOLD is a shoe cabinet built for a narrow hallway. Most entryway storage assumes a room with space to spare; this one assumes a corridor, with a shallow depth that lets people walk past it without turning sideways while still holding a whole household's daily shoes behind a flat front.
Enclosed storage is the right answer at a front door. An open rack puts every muddy sole on display to anyone who visits and collects dust in the gaps; a cabinet with a flat front hides all of it and gives you a usable surface on top for keys, post and a lamp - the things that otherwise pile up on the floor beside it.
Position it against a hallway wall with clearance for the doors or drawers to open fully. Assembly is required. Fix it to the wall with the supplied bracket, particularly in a household with children, and load heavier items in the lower compartments to keep the centre of gravity low.
