VESPER is an elongated capsule of alabaster with a slim metal strip running vertically through the centre. The strip does the visual work: it divides the stone into two lit halves and gives the fixture a defined line, so the shape reads as designed rather than simply rounded, and the eye has something to settle on.
Alabaster diffuses light differently from glass or fabric. Rather than passing straight through, the light travels into the stone and comes back out softened, which is why the surface shows subtle variation across it and why the glow looks warm even from a cool source.
